Make the most of the citrus on your tree this season! This delicious brandied Oranges recipe is an oldie but a goody. It is a really easy dessert for entertaining, as it can be made ahead of time.
Navelina Oranges (a large bowlful)
1 1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup Brandy
2 Tbsp Cointreau
Peel and segment a large bowlful of oranges - make sure you remove the bitter pith when you do this. Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl. Cover and leave overnight, or a few hours if possible. (The flavour is better if you don't refrigerate while the Oranges are soaking.)
Enjoy with ice cream, cream and brandy snap baskets!
You can freestyle this recipe a little by adding Grapefruit or Tangelo segments too. A sprinkle of Mint at the last moment might also be quite nice!
