Delivery

We deliver NZ wide (but not to Great Barrier Island, sorry.)  Sorry, we don't have an option to pick up your purchases or to overseas.

The cost of postage depends on the size, weight and destination of the package. The actual price of postage will be added at the checkout, but our postage and delivery page gives you an indication of how we calculate it.

To avoid plants sitting in a courier depot over the weekend, we dispatch our plants on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They will usually take 2 –3 working days to arrive in the North Island, and slightly longer in the South Island. If you are concerned that your plants haven’t arrived, please get in touch and we will investigate.

We use a range of suppliers so that we can offer you a large, high quality range of edible plants and accessories. Larger items, or items sent directly from our suppliers may take longer to arrive because they are made to order and sent separately from plants dispatched by us.

If your order includes plants or products from different suppliers, they may arrive separately or at different times.

Before sending our plants to their forever homes, we make sure they are pre-watered and that the water has drained.

We package them with care to ensure they arrive safely.  This includes wrapping newsprint over the pot to ensure soil does not spill, and adding scrunched up paper around items so they don't move around in their box.

We send plants in specially designed boxes that ensure good area circulation in transit.

We offer a replacement guarantee

To give you peace of mind, we offer a replacement guarantee if your purchase has been damaged in transit and has not arrived in good condition.  If there is a problem please let us know as soon as you receive your package and we will work with you to resolve it. It helps if you can send us a photo.

How often do you dispatch?

To reduce the risk of plants sitting in a courier depot over weekends, we usually ship orders on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday (except public holidays).   We make sure all of our plants are pre-watered and packaged with care to make sure they arrive safely.  We send them in specially designed boxes that ensure good area circulation in transit.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver to the North Island.  We don’t generally ship to Waiheke, Great Barrier or other parts of New Zealand except by special arrangement. (Delivery can be expensive, and we want to ensure that our live plants arrive in good condition.)  If items are small and non-perishable (such as seeds) delivery may be possible.  Contact us to discuss options: info@urbanbounty.co.nz

Do you deliver to post office boxes?

Unfortunately live products or large items like mushroom farms, plants, garden beds and worm farms can't be delivered to Post Office Boxes. Large items (like garden furniture) are delivered to the nearest freight depot for customer pickup if outside of Auckland.

How do you send your products?

We use regular New Zealand Post for small, non-fragile items (like seed packets). We use a reputable courier service for live plants so that your plants arrive in the best possible condition.

How do you package your products?

We take extra care to water plants well before sending.  Plants are shipped in specially designed packaging, designed to reduce the risk of damage in transit. Trees and bushes are securely wrapped in paper to reduce risk of soil escaping during transit.  They are well supported with scrunched up paper to prevent movement during transit.  Use this text to answer questions in as much detail as possible for your customers.

About our plants

Some edible plants are not suitable for pregnant women or people with certain allergies or medical conditions.

Some plants have toxic elements (like the leaves of Rhubarb) or need to be cooked prior to eating. Others need special preparation before consumption (for example Monstera Deliciosa).

Please do your research before eating things you are not familiar with.

Some edibles are seasonal, which is why we don't offer them year-round. Check our advice about when you should plant. Email us if you would like to know when a particular plant is expected in stock.

Urban Bounty specialises in plants for small urban gardens in the North Island. We don’t stock plants that are likely to outgrow a small garden, or which won't flourish in climate conditions in the North Island. It is still important for you to check that you are buying a variety suited to the conditions in your garden to give you the best chance of success.

Plants need to be quickly removed from their packaging, watered and stored in shade until planted.  To ensure they thrive, plants need a position that suits them and well prepared soil. They should be planted at a cool time of day (not in full sun) and they need regular watering until they are established.

We want your gardening experience with us to be a happy one. We hope that the information on our website helped you choose the right plants for your garden, and gave you a feel for how to care for them. If you want more information you can opt to receive occasional emails from us with tips about how to care for and harvest your plants.

Alternatively, please feel free to get in touch with us, or post your gardening questions on our Facebook or Instagram pages.
